Bluesfest, Day One (Bob Dylan)

Well, not much to report from day one. We got to the Flats a little late, since we were having a pretty good time drinking wine on my back porch for the early part of the evening. We made it to the park around 8:40, in time for the Bob Dylan set on the main stage. However, I've had my first Bluesfest realization: if you want to see anything on the main stage, you have to get there waaay early. This (poor) photo is as close as I could get to the stage (I was only able to push forward about 15 feet) and it's still over a football field away, so I couldn't see much except for a man in a white hat who I can only presume was Bob Dylan. Anyway, he sounded very different from what I expected. Apparently most of his set was from Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, which I regret to say I'm not terribly familiar with. But he did close with Like A Rolling Stone and All Along the Watchtower. All in all, I'm glad there's not a whole lot of bands I want to see on the main stage again this year. And I'm still bitter with Bob Dylan for going electric, despite not being born until 10 years later.

But tonight - it's us on the Rogers stage, which I got my first look at last night. It's pretty huge. I'm excited about that. And we also noticed that we've broken onto the charts at CKLN (Ryerson Radio). We're the #2 Rock/Pop album for May 2007, just behind Amy Winehouse. Sweet!

Time to get ready to go. More later!
