Fear and Loathing at the ZB (and Other Miscellany)

Well, it's been a little while, but the good news is that there's a whole lot of catching up to be done. Are you sitting comfortably? Good. Then I'll begin.

First of all, a big thanks to everyone who came out for Monday night's Zaphod's Showcase Showdown. We didn't get to play until sometime around midnight (I believe it was) due to some general misguided chaos that occurred throughout the evening. I won't elaborate too much on the actual details of said chaos, but regardless, I had a blast playing (and we played blasting... everything felt like it was double-speed!) and our friends were, and are, awesome. Thanks!

Actually, what's kind of interesting for me is that the altercations that went on between us and the other band (name withheld to protect their impending Canadian Indie Rock Superstardom) have actually got me really fired up about being in the studio this weekend. Guitars have been re-strung, songs have been planned, tweaked and thoroughly worked out, and I think we're totally ready to go. We're the band with the plan. I think Agent Ampeg is going to try to get a bit of footage while we're there, so that might be kinda fun to watch later on.

In other news, last week I applied for a car-sharing program, and was approved (huzzah!), so my "orientation" is later on today, where they're probably going to tie me to a tree, throw food at me and leave me there all night. Er... or is that an "initiation"? Anyway, I think I just need to pay them and get a lecture about the rules of the program, returning cars on time, creating my account and so on. Still, this is total awesomeness because it means that I will be able to spend a lot of time hiking around Gatineau park this summer (random trail depicted above), which is something that I've been horribly neglecting to do for a while now. It's been a few years since I had Tempesto (my old '89 Tempest) and my hiking time has been suffering ever since. But no longer!

Yeah, so there's a bit of a quick update in the goings-on of Your Humble Narrator. And if any of my loyal blogizens are looking for a mid-week pick-me-up, well, I think I just might have it for you.. right.. here. I had forgotten about how good this video was until I watched it again yesterday. You just can't go wrong with the Polyphonic Spree. Mahalo!
