UK Tour Show #4: The Hobgoblin, Brighton

Thursday afternoon, Agent Ampeg, B and myself caught a train to Brighton (via London), way on the south coast of England (blogged about earlier in Real Time). For those less geographically inclined, that more or less amounts to traveling across 75% of the country in one day, which surprisingly only took us about 6½ hours. We arrived mid-evening, which left us with just enough time to check in to our hotel, get some dinner, and head to a pub for a couple of drinks before heading back to the hotel for the night. Friday was a beautiful sunny day in Brighton, so we got up and headed out to explore a bit. Our first stop was the pier, which was fairly quiet since it was Friday morning. Then we headed to the Lanes to check out some shops, then back to the sea again for some authentic Fish and Chips, and then a bit of a snooze on the beach.

We headed over to the Hobgoblin in the evening and met up with Los Fantasticos. They were one of the first bands we contacted in the UK, and they had set us up with a gig in Brighton within a week, which was the first show we booked over here. As well as being (as the name suggests) a really fantastic instrumental band, they were also incredibly cool guys. This is them absolutely blowing us off the stage before we even started.

After Los Fantasticos, we were up. Quite a lot of people stuck around for our show which was awesome. We also got to talk to a guy who does an instrumental magazine over here, and it turns out he had reviewed Jet Set! in the spring issue. Anyway, we definitely met a lot of really cool people that night.

The next morning was particularly rough for me, far rougher than any other morning in recent memory. I think it might have been from drinking bad beer most of the night. I'm not sure. But that's a whole other story.
