Good Christmas Music : 2007 Edition!

Since we're but a mere four days away from Christmas, I thought I'd post up a couple of festive audio tidbits that have been making me happy this week, including one from last year which is so utterly brilliant that I couldn't resist posting it up again.

The Ventures - Christmas Album (1965)

Aah, The Ventures. I had to start off with this one because I truly believe it to be probably the Best Christmas Album Of All Time. Maybe that's because I'm a bit of a surf/instrumental freak, but nonetheless this is fantastic to listen to. There are all sorts of other non-christmas songs worked into the intros/endings etc, making it that much more interesting a listen. Oh, and you didn't hear it from me, but someone out there posted the whole album online for downloading. Not that I advocate such things, but I'm certainly not going to judge you.

The Ventures - Jingle Bells

Esquivel - Merry Christmas From The Space-Age Bachelor Pad (1996)

What can I say, I love Esquivel. I love how bizarre and exotic his music is. I love those weird guitar slides and the chorus of girls going 'zu-zu-zu-zu'. Even though this album was released in 1996, it still sounds like the perfect soundtrack to the jet-set bachelor pad lifestyle of the 60's, and Esquivel pretty much wrote the book on that one, in my opinion. This one is definitely intended for those who enjoy their eggnog in a martini glass. Dig.

Esquivel - Frosty the Snowman

And finally, if you read last years post, you will remember the most insane rendition of O Holy Night you have (or indeed, will ever) hear. It starts off pretty bad, gets a whole lot worse, and by the time I get to the end of it I'm usually on the floor in hysterics, so make sure you listen to it all the way through.

O Holy Night (Insane-O-Version)

Enjoy!
