Last week, B and I set off on my first trip over to the continent since arriving in the UK in February. We decided that we wanted to do something for Remembrance Day weekend, and we thought that a trip to northern France would be somewhat appropriate. I was going to do a full write-up blog, but there were just so many pictures that it really wouldn't tell the whole story, at least not adequately. So for Part One, let me prologue by saying that we flew in to Charles de Gaulle in Paris, then took a train a few hours later to Rouen (via Amiens, due to construction on the lines). The next day we went to Dieppe, site of the Dieppe Raid on August 19th, 1942. We walked the beaches, saw the cliffs and the Château de Dieppe, took a side trip to Hautôt-sur-Mer to visit the Dieppe Canadian War Cemetery, and spent the rest of the afternoon meandering around downtown eating crêpes until we caught the train back to Rouen. The next day, we left the hotel and roamed around Rouen for the afternoon before heading to Arras - our second destination, and the subject of the second part of the blog.
The full first half of the photos can be found on Picasa, or in Slideshow form by clicking on the beach below.
