Our show at the Blacksheep (a couple of weeks ago now) was a fantastic time. We had a lot of people come out and I had a really fun night. I was hoping some pictures would materialize from the show, but I don't think anybody actually took any, so those who weren't in attendance will have to make do with whatever their imaginations can provide. In other Syndicate news, we've been working pretty hard on getting the new album ready for pressing, which should begin any time now. I'm pretty happy with everything so far, so it will be cool when we get our hands on the finished product.
From the land of television, I started downloading and watching a show called John from Cincinnati, which was axed by HBO after 10 episodes sometime last year. It sounded pretty interesting when I heard it was coming out, being a story about a dysfunctional family of surfers, done in a film noir/Twin Peaks kind of style. Anyway, I decided to give it a go, and I must admit, it's pretty awesome. I can see why it might not have worked on television, since it's hard enough to follow what's going on, let alone if someone misses an episode. The characters are really bizarre, the plot is a bit confusing, and just to take it a step further, there's a lot of weird paranormal stuff going on. I'm 8 episodes in right now, and I think I'm going to finish it up on the weekend. And, in probably the most exciting news, I have officially booked my flight to the UK on December 3rd! I'm going over there for two weeks, spending most of that in Bath with Bridget, and a side trip down to Bognor to visit my G'ma on the coast. (Well, the coast in December, but the coast nonetheless.) It's going to be really awesome. I've also been experimenting with various international phone services to call overseas with, since Telus only operates in North America. I tried out Skype, which worked okay, although it was a weird experience shouting at my laptop, and it started getting a bit choppy near the end. I think I've settled on a decent pre-paid provider now, which has a better rate than Skype, and lets me use my Telus phone, which is a bonus. I have also learned that there's nothing worse than hearing a recorded voice saying you have one minute left.
Anyway, there's a quick recap of things. I'll have more to post about next week for sure, since I can already see some good times on the horizon. Stay tuned!
