The Big Nickel, Press and our CD Release

Yet another week just flew by without any time to post any updates, so I thought I would hack something quick here. It's been really busy times around work, the band, and in general, so here's a quick recap of the recent goings-on.

Last weekend was fun times for the 'Verbs. We convoyed out to the Big Nickel in Sudbury (pictured at left, obviously) and played a really fun show at The Townehouse. We got a really great reception there, and stayed downstairs at the club overnight in their huge band room/lounge. It was very impressive, I wish every club had somewhere like that to stay. The only brutal part of the trip was driving home the next day, where I was completely burned out from having stayed up a bit too late the night before and then waking up somewhat hungover, but I guess that's just what the rock & roll lifestyle is all about. And on our way back, we found our new crime fighting bandmobile. Check out this awesome VW beetle limousine! Genious. Anyway, on to this week, where we've received quite a bit of media exposure for our CD Release Party on Saturday! Wednesday, I picked up a copy of the Sun and was quite blown away to find an actual full-page photo of us on Page 31! The article by Allan Wigney that goes along with it was really good, too. And had yet another picture. Then today, the Citizen ran another really good article, this one by Fateema Sayani, about us on page E3. And, to top it all off, we had a short little bit this morning on CBC Radio One. You can listen to the segment here. (The first five minutes or so is about Owen Pallett, aka Final Fantasy, who I blogged about only a couple of weeks ago, winning the Polaris music prize for best Canadian album of the year. And it is a really great album.)

So that's where we'll leave off for today. Should be an exciting weekend. Odelay!
