We (of the Reverb Syndicate) took the stage on Saturday afternoon at the Cancer Society's Dancing in the Streets fundraiser in the Glebe. We actually started playing a half-hour earlier than expected, due to some main stage schedule shifting, and we brought along the elite go-go squad for this one. Although I wouldn't say it was one of our best shows, it was still lots of fun. It also marked the first time I've ever broken a string on-stage (and only the third broken string ever on my Jazzmaster) which was more or less my worst fear of playing live. So, now that it's happened once, I guess I don't need to fear it anymore.
Luckily, of all the strings that could have broken, the high E-string was probably the least inconvenient one, so I was able to make it through to the end of the set more or less unscathed (although I'll admit that it threw me off my game a little). A couple of songs probably sounded a bit gross before it finally broke, since it was dropping by at least a semitone for 2 or 3 songs before finally snapping. People still seemed to be having a good time in front, though. Here's what the view looked like from just in front of the stage. Our covert internet research team has also learned that the show was, in fact, recorded and uploaded to a live concert distribution network, so we're going to get Agent Sovtek (from whom I stole these photos) on the case to have a listen. I'm curious to hear how it sounded. We shall soon see!
