On The Subject Of Bob Dylan

So Bob Dylan is headlining the opening night of Bluesfest. I'm definitely going to check that out, despite the poor reviews I heard from people who went to see him last time he was here. But it's Bob Dylan, so I'm going to be in the audience for sure, good show or not. But it also made me think about how he's been popping up all over my reality lately, so here's a few found items I thought I'd pass on.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to see Reign Over Me, the recent Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle movie. Now, I'm not a huge Adam Sandler fan or anything, but I admit I was intrigued by the previews, and it turned out to be a really good movie. And I couldn't help noticing how Adam Sandler looks exactly like a "Blonde On Blonde"-era Bob Dylan. And it turns out I'm not the only one. Contrast and compare. (Photo was borrowed stolen from this blog.)

Here's a fun bit of listening. Ever wondered what Bob Dylan would sound like singing Dr. Seuss stories? Yeah, me neither. But it turns out somebody with a knack for sounding like Bob (Houston music producer Kevin Ryan) did, and Dylan Hears a Who was born. The unfortunate part is that apparently Dr. Seuss Enterprises didn't find it as particularily brilliant as the rest of the internet, and a cease-and-desist letter ensued. So the site is now officially "retired". But here's what I thought was the best track - Green Eggs and Ham.

And just so we have a little bit of real Bob Dylan content, here's the awesome video for Subterranean Homesick Blues. There's a nice little cameo from Allan Ginsberg in there too. Enjoy!
